eBay doesn't operate a Brazilian marketplace, so selling on eBay from Brazil means exporting. You list on eBay.com (or another eBay site), pay that site's fees in dollars, add a 1.55% international fee for Brazil-based sellers, and — if eBay converts your dollars to reais — a 3.5% currency conversion charge, the rate for sellers in Latin America.

Example: a $120 football card
Trading cards pay 13.25% on eBay.com. A $120 card costs $18.16 in eBay fees (13.25% + $0.40 + 1.55%). If eBay then converts the remaining $101.84 to reais, the 3.5% charge leaves about $98.28 in value before shipping and your cost.
What sells well from Brazil
The economics favour items that are worth more abroad than at home and are light to ship: football memorabilia and shirts, gemstones and jewellery, Brazilian vinyl, collectible coins and banknotes, and handmade goods. Heavy, low-value items rarely work once international shipping is added.
eBay or Mercado Livre?
For selling to Brazilians, Mercado Livre and Shopee have the buyers. eBay is a channel for reaching collectors and shoppers in the US, Europe and elsewhere — use it alongside a domestic marketplace, not instead of one.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an eBay Brasil site?
No. Brazilian sellers list on eBay.com or another eBay site and pay that site's fees.
Can I avoid the currency conversion charge?
Only if your payout currency matches the listing currency. Otherwise eBay keeps 3.5% when converting — build it into your prices.
How do I calculate my fees?
Use the Brazil calculator — it combines eBay.com's fees with the Brazil international fee.
