The fee rules in 2026
- eBay.com: 13.6% of the total (item + shipping + tax) for most categories including clothing, plus $0.30–$0.40 per order. Sneakers of $150+ pay 8% with no per-order fee; handbags pay 15% up to $2,000 and 9% on the whole sale above.
- Mercari (US): 10% of the item price plus any shipping the buyer pays. No separate payment processing fee; buyers pay their own 3.6% buyer protection fee.
- Poshmark (US): $2.95 on sales under $15, 20% on sales of $15 or more. Shipping is a flat rate the buyer pays and isn't part of the commission.

Two patterns stand out. Poshmark's $2.95 minimum makes it expensive under $15 (a quarter of a $12 sale). And on eBay, sneakers over $150 and handbags over $2,000 drop to rates Poshmark and Mercari can't match.
Shipping changes the picture
eBay and Mercari both charge their percentage on shipping the buyer pays; Poshmark doesn't, because its flat shipping label is separate. On the other hand, Poshmark buyers pay for a prepaid label you can't shop around, while on eBay and Mercari you choose the carrier and can often ship cheaper than you charge.
Beyond the fee
- eBay: the biggest audience, international buyers, auctions, and category discounts with a store.
- Mercari: simple pricing and a deal-hunting audience; prices often run lower.
- Poshmark: fashion-focused, social selling and offers; the 20% fee is the price of that audience.
