This article originally described an "April 2026 fee update". When we re-checked every eBay fee page in October 2026, we couldn't confirm the changes it described, so we rewrote it around the changes eBay has actually published, with their dates. Here's what's really changed this year — and what's coming.
Fees verified against eBay's official fee pages on 13 October 2026. Checked daily for changes (fee change tracker).
1 September 2026 — France and Italy go free for private sellers
Private sellers registered in the EEA no longer pay a final value fee or regulatory operating fee on eBay.fr or eBay.it, in any category. They still pay for extra listings beyond 150 a month, optional upgrades and an international fee when shipping outside the eurozone and Sweden. Business sellers are unaffected. Details: eBay France fees and eBay Italy fees.
That puts France and Italy alongside the UK (free for UK-based private sellers) and Germany (free for private sales within Germany). Spain, the Netherlands, Ireland, Belgium, Austria, Switzerland and Poland still charge private sellers around 11%.
October–December 2026 — currency conversion charges rise
eBay is raising the charge it keeps when it converts your money for a sale on a site in another currency:
| Sellers registered in | Now | New rate | From |
|---|---|---|---|
| United States | 3% | 3.25% | 14 October 2026 |
| Canada | 3% | 3.25% | 14 October 2026 |
| Hong Kong | 2.5% | 2.75% | 14 October 2026 |
| Australia | 3% | 3.25% | 1 November 2026 |
| United Kingdom | 2.5% | 2.75% | 1 December 2026 |
| Germany | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| France | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Italy | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Spain | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Netherlands | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Ireland | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Poland | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Austria | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Belgium | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
| Switzerland | 3% | 3.25% | 2 December 2026 |
This only matters if you list on a site whose currency differs from your payout currency — for example a UK seller listing on eBay.com.
November 2026 — Australia's free selling programme
- 3 November: sellers in the free selling programme (under A$25,000 a year) receive their proceeds through an eBay balance account.
- 11 November: eBay starts providing prepaid shipping labels for eligible free-selling items.
The fees themselves are unchanged: free up to A$25,000 in rolling 12-month sales, then eBay Pro plans. See our Australia threshold guide.
15 October 2026 — eBay Live leaves seller standards
On eBay.com, eBay Live transactions stop counting towards your seller level and service metrics from 15 October 2026, including past transactions. That can change your Below Standard risk — and therefore surcharges — if you sell a lot through live shows.
What hasn't changed on eBay.com
- 13.6% on most categories (up to $7,500 per item, 2.35% above) and $0.30–$0.40 per order.
- 1.65% international fee, waived with eBay International Shipping.
- Below Standard surcharge of +6 points (+7 after four months).
- Store plans: Starter, Basic, Premium, Anchor and Enterprise, with Basic and above on a lower category table.
How we keep track
Every fee in our calculators is checked against eBay's official fee pages, and each country page shows the date it was last verified. If eBay announces a change, we update the data and the affected guides. To see what the current fees mean for your own sales, run the numbers in the eBay profit calculator.
