This guide is for sellers using eBay Sweden (eBay.se) in 2026. You'll learn exactly what fees you'll pay, how to calculate them, and whether eBay beats Tradera for your product category.
Core Fee Structure
eBay Sweden charges three fees on every sale: a 12.0% final value fee, a fixed per-order fee of kr0.35, and a 0.42% regulatory operating fee.
These stack. They're not alternatives. Every transaction pays all three.
Example: you sell a lamp for kr250. Final value fee is kr30.00. Regulatory fee is kr1.05. Per-order fee is kr0.35. Total fees: kr31.40.
Use our eBay profit calculator to run scenarios with your actual costs and shipping.
What Counts as Sale Price
eBay Sweden calculates fees on the total amount the buyer pays. That includes the item price plus any shipping, handling, or packaging costs you charge.
Sales tax (moms) is excluded. eBay collects VAT separately and does not charge fees on it.
Never assume "free shipping" reduces your fees. eBay charges on the sale price you set, which you've already inflated to cover shipping. The fee applies either way.
Store Subscriptions
eBay Sweden offers store tiers that reduce your final value fee and give you more free listings each month. Each tier charges a monthly subscription but discounts your per-sale percentage.
- Basic: kr25.00/mo, saves 2% on final value fee · 250 free listings
- Featured: kr75.00/mo, saves 4% on final value fee · 1,000 free listings
- Anchor: kr425.00/mo, saves 7% on final value fee · unlimited listings
The FVF discount applies to the 12.0% base rate only. It does not reduce the 0.42% regulatory fee or the kr0.35 per-order fee.
Break-even depends on volume. If you sell kr5,000/month, the Basic tier saves you around kr12.00 in FVF, which covers the kr25.00 subscription with margin to spare.
Seller Performance Penalties
eBay tracks defect rate, late shipments, and cases. Fall below standard and you pay extra fees on top of the baseline.
| Status | Surcharge | Effective FVF |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | — | 12.0% |
| Below Standard | +6% | 18.0% |
| Poor Performance | +8% | 20.0% |
The surcharge applies to the final value fee only. It does not compound with the regulatory fee.
Poor performance costs you kr40.00 extra on a kr500 sale. That's kr480 annually if you sell one item per month at that price point.
Tradera vs eBay
Tradera (eBay's Swedish subsidiary) charges different fees. For most categories, Tradera's final value fee is higher—around 13–15%—but the fee structure is simpler and there's no separate regulatory charge.
eBay.se gives you access to international buyers. Tradera is Sweden-only. If you sell vintage furniture, local delivery makes Tradera viable. If you sell watches or electronics, eBay's reach justifies the slightly higher combined fee.
Run both platforms through a calculator. Don't guess. A kr1,200 sale on Tradera at 14% costs kr168 in fees. The same sale on eBay.se costs kr149.39. eBay wins here, but Tradera's insertion fees and promoted listing costs differ.
International Sales
eBay Sweden does not add a surcharge for cross-border transactions within the EU. You pay the same 12.0% + 0.42% + kr0.35 whether the buyer is in Stockholm or Berlin.
Sales to UK or non-EU countries trigger customs paperwork. eBay does not charge extra fees for this, but you're responsible for accurate customs declarations. Mis-declared values can lead to account holds.
Promoted Listings
Promoted Listings Standard lets you bid an ad rate (typically 2–15%) on top of your regular fees. You pay only when the listing generates a sale attributed to the promotion.
The promoted fee is calculated on the same base as FVF: item price plus postage. A kr300 sale with a 5% ad rate costs you kr15 in promotion fees, separate from the kr37.61 in standard fees.
Total take: kr52.61 on that kr300 sale. Promoted Listings Advanced (cost-per-click) is available but rare in Sweden; most sellers use Standard.
Insertion and Listing Fees
eBay Sweden does not charge insertion fees for most sellers. You get a monthly allowance of free listings. The exact number depends on your store tier or, for non-store sellers, a baseline quota (usually 100–300 per month).
Once you exceed your free allowance, eBay charges a small insertion fee per listing—typically kr0.30–0.50. Store subscribers get higher (or unlimited) quotas, making the insertion fee a non-issue for active sellers.
Payment Processing
eBay Payments (managed payments) is mandatory in Sweden. There is no separate PayPal fee. The 12.0% + 0.42% structure includes payment processing.
Payout timing is 2–7 days after the buyer's payment clears. eBay holds funds from new accounts or sellers with performance flags. Expect 21-day holds until you build transaction history.
VAT and Tax
If you're VAT-registered, you charge 25% moms on most goods sold to Swedish buyers. eBay collects this and remits it on your behalf for cross-border EU sales under the Import One-Stop Shop (IOSS) scheme.
You do not pay eBay fees on the VAT portion. Fees apply only to the net sale price. A kr100 item + kr25 VAT = kr125 total; eBay charges fees on kr100.
Non-VAT sellers (hobby sellers below the registration threshold) still see eBay collect VAT from buyers in applicable cases. Consult a Swedish accountant if your annual eBay revenue approaches SEK 80,000 (roughly kr7,000 at typical exchange rates).
Practical Example
If you're on the Basic store tier (−2% FVF), your final value fee drops to kr105.84, saving you kr2.16 on this sale.
Minimising Fees
Subscribe to a store tier if you sell more than five items per month. The FVF discount pays for itself quickly.
Keep seller performance above standard. A 6% surcharge erases any margin on low-ticket items.
Price shipping accurately. Overcharging triggers buyer complaints and returns. Undercharging eats into your profit because eBay still charges fees on the shortfall you've built into the item price.
Use Promoted Listings selectively. A 10% ad rate on a kr50 item (kr5 fee) is worthwhile if it moves stock. On a kr15 item, you're giving away a third of your margin.
Final Takeaway
eBay Sweden's 12.0% + 0.42% + kr0.35 structure is transparent once you internalise it. Add the three fees, subtract from your sale price, and you know your net. Store subscriptions lower the percentage but add a monthly cost. Seller performance penalties raise it. International reach is eBay's edge over Tradera; fees are comparable if you factor in promoted listing costs on both platforms. Run every product through the calculator before listing, and update your pricing when your costs or eBay's rates shift.
